“It’s rewarding to be part of a design leader focused on connecting communities,” remarks Daniel. “Architects, designers, planners, engineers and contractors all have a direct influence on how physical environments ultimately shape our experiences in the public realm. That thinking helps us collectively design a better future.” He’s particularly proud of the firm’s work on the Community Civic Campus for the City of South San Francisco. “This new campus was conceived by its city leadership to be an icon of design as well as a commitment to education, public safety and civic pride,” he explains. “In my career, I’ve not been involved with a project that exemplifies such idealist, yet essential, values.” Daniel describes cooking as “cathartic,” a hobby that also complements his love of travel. “It’s a creative outlet that is social and cultural,” he says. “When I’m out of the country, I seek out cooking classes and local food markets,” as he did on a recent visit to Bangkok. “Travel provides you the ability to gain different perspectives and really foster empathy.  And reminds you that you are part of a global community.”
