When this office interiors company moved its headquarters into a former retail space, it sought to create both a functional workplace and inspiring showroom. Its staff needed to be able to work comfortably throughout the 10,000 square-foot-building, yet also be able to showcase it to potential clients without interrupting workflow. In addition, the firm looked to integrate its company culture, brand identity and workplace best practices into the final design.
The result is a sophisticated yet playful space that places a premium on organization and flexibility. In the office and conference areas, moveable architectural walls and modular mechanical/electrical systems allow for a variety of configurations with minimal labor or disruption. A ribbon of reclaimed barnwood creates another key design element, defining public space, introducing a warm element among the exposed steel and brick, and referencing the company’s humble beginnings in a residential garage. The simple, natural palette found throughout creates a timeless backdrop for the firm’s rotating display of highly engineered products.
