Jeff serves as Director of Operations for SmithGroupJJR’s Detroit office, but he also co-founded the firm’s Lighting Design Studio, creating a specialty service that has made an award-winning mark on projects throughout the nation. He uses light as a powerful design tool to dramatically affect how people perceive and experience architecture. As an industry leader in LED innovation and new technologies, Jeff can often be found speaking at national conferences, judging lighting competitions and serving on the faculty of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD). “Development in areas such as solid state lighting, daylight, biological impacts of light, controls and color research make this an exciting time to be in the lighting design world,” he suggests. Had he not discovered lighting, Jeff “would likely be on an archaeological dig somewhere. I’ve always been fascinated with ancient cultures, especially those that achieved great architectural or engineering feats with the limited technology of their time.”
