Bonnie Khang-Keating

"I love coming into the office with new ideas and concepts that I’ve been thinking about all night, and testing them out with the team. Every day is a new adventure!"

How deep is Bonnie’s appreciation for architecture? She willingly adds another 10 minutes to her daily commute so she can drive past the Walt Disney Concert Hall, one of several Los Angeles buildings that inspire her. Bonnie, who now leads our L.A. office, certainly has contributed to the city’s visual bounty throughout her career. A recognized leader in L.A.’s design community, she served as managing partner of Keating/Khang Architecture prior to joining SmithGroupJJR, guiding several notable new construction and renovation projects in Los Angeles and beyond. Bonnie also has served as design commissioner for the city of Pasadena, cultural heritage commissioner for the city of Los Angeles, and director of design and construction at the California Institute of Technology’s campus planning department. “Architecture is more than a career,” she says. “It’s a part of who I am.”
