As a strategic planner for the Science & Technology practice, Andy is an expert in scientific research and healthcare planning and design, with decades of experience and an award-winning portfolio of academic facilities, hospitals, and research and clinical laboratories. He is the driving force behind SmithGroupJJR's research project, Lab 2030; a fellow of the American Institute of Architects; and the recipient of the Henry Adams Award of Excellence in Architecture, among numerous other national awards. "Having held leadership positions in architecture, management, planning, design and marketing, I have learned to look at the elephant from many perspectives," Andy says of his success. As an architect, leader and mentor, he continues to challenge himself and others: "Working with bright, creative young people inspires me to learn new technologies and tools," he notes. "Always look for people who can take your job, mentor them so they can advance before they think they are ready."
